What is the best product to use for colouring my hair?

my hair colour is currently blond and brown, and i wanted to go to a dark brown something that was darker than my natural colour. what do you think is the best hair colouring product to use?

i think you shoould go to a salon. you cant just dye over blonde with dark brown. the base color could grab and you could end up a greyish green. you need fillers. before you spend a fortune on do it yourself disasters, go to a salon. you will be happy you did.

I would never suggest doing your hair yourself.  You have to think here... your ends will need to process less time than your roots.  Normally when my clients do their own hair I can tell.  Why?  Because the hair will be more damaged in spots or darker, due to uneven distribution.  Also a lot of store brands have a significant amount of ammonia in them, which is really damaging for your hair.  If it is really dark, you might come out being a level 2 or 1.  Close to black.

If you insist on doing it yourself use a demi or semi color.  It is less abrasive on the hair.

If you are after a DIY dye I'd go for L'Oreal Feria. I've tried every other brand and I swear by it. Their colours aren't flat and have very nice subtle highlights and multitones.

The dark brown dye will work, it will just turn out lighter than the colour on the box. However, over time every few months you do it, it will become darker and darker (the desired colour).

Everyone would go to a salon if they could afford it.
