What is the best program to tranfer video files from my sonyD8 camcorder [usb and firewire] to my pc?

I have a pci fire wire card to capture the video but everytime I plug in my camera to the pc there is no program to capture the video I have nero dont work

I use a program called "Pinnacle Studio" You would need to use the fire-wire cord,the only problem is mine came free with my computer and i don't know where else to buy them from,They could be at www.amazon.com.i don't know
