  1. If you want to spend about $1000 for a home theater projector, then get a dlp front projector from Optoma or Mitsubishi. Make sure the native resolution is 16:9 (wides screen and the it has 720 progressive lines or 1080 interlace, (resolution about 1280 X 720) You can go to www.costco.com and look at Optoma HD7100, Optoma HD71 or Mitsubishi HC1500U. You order whichever model you like and have it shipped to your home. If you do not like it, return it immediately to a Costco store in your area to get a full refund. DLP projectors have very high viewing angle meaning that they are better for ceiling installations rather than being on a table. The colors are bright and better than LCD projectors, but LCD projectors will give you more installation flexibility and you will not worry about the "rainbow effect" that some people see in DLP projectors. LCD projectors don't have as good color or black levels as DLPs though. I

By the way, if you can afford to get a 1080 progressive projector, that is the way to go, because that is the highest resolution available. I have an Optoma DLP projector and screen at home, and everyone who comes in and watch movies, like my set up.

  2. The best deal is a "used" Infocus SP4805 DLP - 4X 2000:1 [contrast] front projector for $500 from:
