What is the best protection I can get for my PC for free.

I went through cancer and now I'm out of money to continue with the Norton SystemWorks I have. I really, really need some advice and fast too. My subscription has run out.

Personally I would go with the AVG anti-virus and anti-spyware combo and use Zone alarm firewall ( Kerio Personal Firewall if you can find an earlier version of it when it was free ).  

If it sounds like too much work, try downloading McAfee free, for a complete Anti-virus, Spyware and firewall package, but it has some cutbacks on userbility in my opinion.

Avast home edition is really very good.. only for professional version they aks you to renew the subscription. Home edition is absolutely free.. try that one..
