  1. None !!!

But jiu-jitsu and Boxing works for me )***

  2. I'd say Muay Thai, because if you want immediate results, just start kicking and kneein the s*** out of people. Those guys are extremely tough.

  3. What is the best type of sport?

  4. muay thai kickboxing boxing jiu-jitsu

  5. first off, never let anyone tell you one art is the best. and none of them can be learned overnight.

to me bruce lee's whole thing was,....do your own thing and dont worry about what everyone else thinks. you just have to find an art and a school that you ENJOY...and train your *ss off to get the most benefits. i say that because everyone has their interpretation, and 9 times out of 10 they try to solidify what he was doing...which misses the entire point of jkd.

effective for what purpose? self defense? sport sparring? tournament forms? health?

what schools are available in your area?

out of those arts/schools, which one has the best teacher? (very very important) what is their "lineage"? and how well does what they teach suit your goals?

if you just want to learn how to fight in the shortest possible time, i'd try a mma/jkd school, or maybe something like krav maga, or a little kickboxing and brazilian jujutsu (or sambo..etc) however be aware that with kickboxing and mma, there is alot of stuff they don't do, like train for multiple attackers, or weapon attacks. even japanese based jujutsu can be learned relatively quickly. how good you are in that short a time is up to you. don't be in a hurry though, you'll just hurt yourself (trust me lol)

if street practicality is your goal (you being bullied?) remember the aggressor must vanquish...the defender merely has to survive. so you don't have to "win" the fight.

but if you want relatively quick results as far as martial arts concerned, look into, bjj catch wrestling, judo, or sambo (not because they can be learned quickly, but you NEED ground fighting ability), jkd (which includes all ranged, including ground), maybe wing chun, muay thai, kickboxing, mma (all ranged in a sportive, but full contact and realistic fashion).

just be aware of each's limitations. some systems will take years to learn, and most of them freely admit it, but there is a beauty in that simply because not everyone (and their brother) will have the patience to learn it.  choy li fut, hung gar, karate, shaolin...these kinds of arts have many forms, and often 'weed out' the bad seeds before getting to the good stuff and they may do so intentionally. more classical or traditional systems are more of a wholistic approach, they want to meld body, mind, and spirit, as well as cultivate fighting ability. but this takes time. whereas, more modern styles often are based strictly on self defense, or the physical aspects of the martial arts. neither is right or wrong...simply different.

others, such as most tkd schools that i have seen, or wushu, are sport oriented.

so what are your goals? what is available to you? how much time do you have to practice, practice, practice?

if you have any questions i may be able to answer, feel free to contact me.

  6. It is so hard to say which fighting style you could learn that would be the most effective in the shortest amount of time. I was in a police academy and in the U.S. Navy and both of their hand-to-hand combat systems were excellent for tactical self defense. I like Krav Maga, Jeet Kun Do, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, and Sambo for their symplicity as well as effectiveness also. I am not knocking any other style, but from my experience if you want to learn to be dangerous fast, study any of the styles I have mentioned.
