  1. I believe Citizens Property Insurance has become the de facto property insurer in Fla.

Who wants Allstate or State Farm, anyway?  If you actually get hit with damage, Floridians already KNOW they'll just drop you.

  2. Whatever you find should be ok  as long as it is not, State Farm and All State,  You don't want those two anyway, they are the two worse.

  3. we got dropped by state farm too.  We are close to the Gulf of Mexico.  I do not like going with insurance companies i have never heard of before, which there are plenty of in the state of Florida.  we went with Citizens.  They are now the largest in the state and premiums have gone down.  your state farm agent can write it for you or any insurance company around.  we had friends on the east coast of Florida get hit w/a storm and citizens paid their claim w/o any problems.  today, in Florida, I'd rather pay a little bit more and be with Citizens.  good luck

  4. You're going to be stuck with an unrated company, or Citizens, the state plan.

There is NO WAY I would go with an unrated carrier, over Citizens, even if they  are cheaper.

Even if Citizens takes 9 months to pay you, you KNOW that eventually, you'll get paid.

Your agent should be explaining this stuff to you . . . but you'll need a new agent - an INDEPENDENT agent.
