What is the best recreational lake in North Carolina?

New to the area. I am looking for something w/in 50 miles of Fayetteville where you can rent jet skis, possibly lay on the beach, picnic, and has a lot of activity. Know of any place like that or sort of like that??? Your optional is greatly appricated!

There's Jordan Lake in the Triangle area and then New Bern on the coast with the estuary.  There may be some some other small things, but those are the bigs ones near Fayetteville.

well the beach is in morehead city but  the neuse river is closer. dont know of anywhere where you cant rent jetskis around here unless you go to places that sell them and ask.there isnt really a place with a lot of activity other than the beach. you could go to union point and have a picnic there and all that stuff, its in downtown newbern.
