What is the best remedy for nerve pain that hurts the right arm?

My mom is 48 and she has a nerve pain on her right arm. We live in Monterey, CA where the weather is abnormally cold all year long. She got this kind of pain since we moved here, that bothers her a lot. She said sometimes the nerve pain attacked the right arm during sleep, and she woke up from it and never able to fall asleep again.

She tried ActivOn but that didn't make her feel any better. She said the pain was probably caused by the cold weather, and the pain would possibly disappear if she travels to place where is hot and humid.

Does anyone how to treat this kind of nerve pain?

Thanks

  1. If you lived near me I would have been happy to treat your Mom. My best suggestion would be an Osteopath that practices "Osteopathic Manipulative Technique"or OMT. Second place goes to PT's or Massage Therapist's that use "Muscle Energy Technique". The third choice is a very good Chiropractor. MET is very similar to OMT. Your best bet is to go with a DO or PT.

  2. My father had something similar. Her spine might be pinching a nerve that is causing the pain. As to the cold weather/hot weather thing, the veins/arteries open up more in the hot humid weather, possibly moving the nerve out of harms way. When it's cold, it contracts a little bit, then the nerve is back to pinchy time. It's a relatively normal surgery that can fix it. Check with your doctor.
