Depends on personal taste, not to mention how much youre willing to spend.. These are my personal opinions:

In Indian, best would be Bukhara in Maurya, but its expensive, otherwise Moti Mahal isnt that bad, nor is Karim's.

In Chinese, best would be Empress Of Chine in Park Royal, but again expensive, otherwise try Oreintal Bloom in Ansal Plaza or Chungwa in GK 2.

In Mexican, I dont know much, but Rodeo in Connaught Place is passable.

In Italian/Continental, the best hang out place that is always packed and has good food, is Big Chill. Theyre 2 in Khan Market and one in east of kailash. Otherwise go for Flavours near Def Col, although its quite heavy.

Gulatis in Pandara Road , if you really like non veg food

I love the Dum Pukht at Maurya....the best food though more than a trifle expensive!

Karim's is also great, the Nizamuddim outlet is a bit more accessible and to be honest just as good as the Jama Masjid one!

Salim's restauarant in Kailash Colony is also great and relatively better priced too!
