  1. For steak - got to vote for Texas Roadhouse.  pricing just right

  2. This is a very general question. So many different culinary choices. I live in SW area so here are my favs.

+Shabu House on Bellaire and BW8 - Japanese hot pot. It's an interesting and different setting. Everyone sit at one 18-seat oval table. Menu choice is beef, seafood or veggie. Delicious, superfull for less than $18.

+NitNoi on Westheimer & Kirkwood - my best Thai food place. Good food, roomy atmos.

+Thai Binh Duong on Bellaire & Bel Park Dr. - considered the best Pho (Vietnamese noodle soup) in Houston

+ I also like Jangkum Tofu House behind Sinh Sinh on Bellaire - it's Korean, gave most people a new look at tofu. Rice is cook in a heavy super hot (temperture) bow.

  3. Chuy's is on the top in my opinion.

  4. I think Mark's American Cuisine on lower Westheimer is the best restuarant in the city.  Yes, it is very expensive.  It has delicious, culinary creations served beautifully in an interesting, romantic, and innovative setting.  Reservations are required.

    Mark's American Cuisine

    (713) 523-3800

    1658 Westheimer Rd

    Houston, TX

    Enjoy!

  5. Try this site http://www.houston.com/restaurants/

  6. C'mon... Pappasitos? Chuy's? Best restaurant doesn't mean the one where you like to have a quick dinner and a beer. Besides, Pappasitos is mediocre at best. "Best Restaurant" means the highest rated restaurant.

Last I checked, Zagat rated Mark's (already called out by CookingPancakes) as the best restaurant in Houston. Following Mark's was DaMarco.

My personal vote goes to Capitol Grille, but it is more my style.

  7. Pappasitoes for mexican. It is soo good!!!

  8. Mark's!  I went on my first date with my husband there only 3 days after moving to Houston.  I have yet to find another restaurant as nice.

Artista is great as well.  Go at night and reserve a window seat so you can soak up the downtown views.  Make sure it is on a theater night, otherwise the place can be dead.
