There are soooooo many restaurants in London that it is difficult to pin down just one restaurant as `the best`.  

Some top and expensive restaurants include:

The Ivy

Zafferano

Zumas

The Wolseley

Conran Restaurants (eg. Terminus)

The Michelin guide gives a list of Starred restaurants here:

The only one with 5 stars is The Ritz Restaurant.

my personal best is nobu on park lane. if you like japanese then i highly recommend it!!
