  1. 'Spezzo Ristorante' is my favorite! Located in the town of Richmond Hill, which is in the York region of Toronto.

I've eaten there several times...and the food is incredible. The very best in fresh market Italian cuisine:

  2. The best in terms of fancy and expensive is Chiaro in the King Edward Hotel. Have the smoked salmon or roast rack of lamb.

The best reasonably priced but still fairly fancy is Mandalay on Lawrence Ave. E. just east of Markham Rd (north side in a little plaza sort of tucked away). They serve Asian-fusion food that's really good for fairly reasonable prices. Have the Pad Thai.

For good and cheap, try almost any of the many Vietnamese restaurants around town. Try the Pho or ginger chicken.

  3. Well being a former chef and having worked in 4 countrys when I was in the trade, Toronto offers up quite a selection, I have always gone to places that I cannot make the same thing at home, mainly due to my kitchen restrictions, I like Thai, Ethiopian and Korean alot, as for a favorite dish, along Bloor between Bathurst and Christie were the biggest concentration of Korean places are, I am always ready for Bul-go-gui or the Pork Bone Soup, with Ethiopian I go to the Queen of Sheba on Bloor west of Dufferin and have a "Wot" a stew of either lamb or the veggie ones, it is quite and experience.

But with all the choices it is hard to really pick a fav, I like them all, and try to vary my dining out choice every week, I have recently found some West African places that are very intriging, Nigerian and Ghanain.

  4. That's a difficult question to answer because...where do you start?  Toronto has so many good restaurants.  If you want high end, there's Canoe, Splendido, Susur's, etc.  If you want mid-range there's five in every neighbourhood.  Do you want Italian, Thai, steak & seafood, etc.?  I would suggest toronto.com, you can search by neighbourhood, price range, ethnicity and read reviews and link to menus.

    Enjoy!

  5. I stayed about a week in Mississauga - would you believe I had better bar-b-que at Montana's (on Hurontario) than I had eaten in Houston the week before?

    Excellent baby-backs.  Second to mine!
