What is the best route to see India in 2-3 weeks?

We are two students from California planning to travel around India this August for 2-3 weeks. Not knowing much about India, we came up with the following route:

Bangalore > Kerala > Goa > Mumbai > Rajastan > Agra > Delhi.

Do you have any recommendations to add or remove stops?

Is it possible to do in 2-3 weeks?

What is the best mode of transportation for this route? Train, plane, bus?

Thank you.

  1. You have chosen the best places and a very good route as well ( if you can start your journey from Blore otherwise you can turn around and start the trip from Delhi )

Goa and Kerala are excellent .. .very scenic and green places --- (Tip: good deals on Goa / Kerala Hotels they offer dealer discounts to clients www.goa-kerala.oceanhugs.in)

Banglore - Delhi - Mumbai .. have more metropolitan feel to it ..

And Rajisthan - Jaipur , Jodhpur are very heritage cities and thus have their own charm ...

Agra you have to go for TAJ MAHAL !!! ... you can also see fatehpur sikri there ...

For travel escorts you can log on to www.indiatourescort.in

Avoid buses - unless you can get a VOLVO - like from Goa - Mumbai or Agra to Delhi - They are a safe bet .

Trains only take Shatabdi and Rajdhani = fastest train + Fewer Stops and outside vendors dont get inside the train so its safe .

Air is of course the best and so are the price if you book in advance you will get Apex rates !

you can visit www.oceanhuigs.in or mail them oceanhugs@gmail.com

    Have a good Trip !

  3. I would like you to enquire for package tour with some travel agents.

  4. I think the places you have selected are OK. From the USA you should land in Delhi first. Then visit Agra for a day,  then come back to Delhi. Spend 2~3 days in Delhi. From Delhi you may take a private luxury bus to Jaipur, Rajasthan. Spend around 3~4 days in Rajastan. And then to Goa by plane.2~3 days in Goa and then plane to Bangalore. 2 days are enough in Bangalore. From Bangalore to Kochin, Kerala by plane. Spend 3~4 days in Kerala. Then finally to Mumbai by plane. Spend 2 days there and take a flight back home.

Every state has its own tourism department. They will be able to guide you properly how to go around the place.  Go to net, get their address and start planning from now only. They even have good hotels, not very expensive. You can make your reservations for these hotels.

August is is mansoon period in India. You will encounter lots of rain, especially in Mumbai and Kerala. Take care and wish you all the best.

  5. Lahore, Islamabad, Peshawar, Karachi

  6. By train start from any where!

  7. im 16 and i have traveled to India twice and believe me u do not want to be in the rough parts of Delhi so,, get a travel guide of some sort preferably from a hotel if not u may get swindled and the local guides may ditch u at the place of location once they are paid. they r of no help. and if u are going to be going to the taj mahal keep ur wallet safe at all times, have ur wallet on ur hand because the first time i went there i was pick pocketed and i lost most of my vacation money and a school id. also the best means of transportation is be on a plane as much as possible and if u have to travel into the city try to hire a driver that knows there way around believe me its a pain to keep getting a rickshaw mostly because it is hard to communicate because all the dialects. THE BIGGEST TIP I CAN GIVE U CARRY BUG SPRAY AND HAVE A BOTTLE WATER PURIFIER.. the first time i went there i can back with horse fly bites all over my ankles because i made the mistake of wearing shorts.. also the water purifier will help u from drinking contaminated water with may caused me diarrhea, nausea, and headache for 2 weeks... so if u do plan on going be careful arrange everything thought the hotel or make sure u hire a translator and stay with family if u have any there.. and if u get sick make sure u go to a doctor don't risk it.... if u have any more questions feel free to e-mail me

  8. Add chennai ..i think you  start from Kerala or Chennai.

Transportation..i would highly recommend plane.dont waste time in train.
