What is the best school district for children with autism in San Francisco Bay Area?

My family will be moving to California and work in Oakland, CA which is along the bay area of San Francisco. We need help in moving and looking for the best place to get services for my daughter with Autism.

  1. It would probably help if you can be more specific about what you are looking for. I think different districts in this area have strengths with different kinds of programs. Do you need an intensive ABA program for a child that is one district, if you are thinking that you child needs an inclusive program with perhaps aide support that is a different district, do you want a self-contained class for a high functioning student that is a different district.. if you want him in general education with just really good teacher and support staff checking in?

    Remember your first 30 days in a new district bring your IEP to the school. they have to try to match his current services and placement that are on the IEP to the best of their ability while they gather information and decide whether or not to assess to determine best services and placement in the new district so make sure your paper work is in order from your previous district and this will help speed up the process.


  2. albany is like one of the best school districts here. it has  pretty  good services for autistic kids i think. albany is between berkeley and el cerrito. the only way to get your kids into the system is to live there. its really exspensive but a fantastic neighborhood to live in if you have kids.
