What is the best school for majoring in psychiatry or psychology?

Hi.

I'm in high school.

I am a freshman.

I know its a little early for me to worry about this but I want to know.

I would really like to major in psychiatry.

And minor in fine arts.

I live in the midwest, and would like to go somewhere on the coasts.

What would suit me best?

Arizona State has a top notch psych program. Just to let you know, you'll want to go to medical school to be a psychiatrist. Medical schools don't care where you go for college, they just care what you do. Get involved in research and try to get published, do lots of medical volunteering or work, do lots of community service and be the president of at least one organization on campus, get good letters of recommendation. You will need 2 science profs, one non science prof, one doctor, and a personal letter (from a dean or a politician or CEO etc). You might want to get two personal letters, because I believe one or two med schools require six, but most want 3-5.
