Okay, so this is the 5th time today I've told someone to get the Canon HV20, but there's nothing better for the price.

24p (film-look), 1080i HD, full HD sensor, mic input, advanced accessory shoe, HDMI out, all in a compact body for $500 on eBay (or check the buy/sell forums on HV20.com; some guy went to Circuit City and got a display model for $294 with all accessories. d**n.). Nothing comes remotely close to beating this camera at this price. Hope this helps!

i agree. the canon hv20 is a great camcorder. it will run you $600 but its basically indie pro status.
