Question:

What is the best shoe (spd) to use on my commuter bike?

i'm looking for a shoe that is comfortable that I can use and also wear outside of the bike. The shoe will be used with spd clips. If u know of a good shoe that's comfortable to walk in, but yet great on an spd clip pls let me know. Thanks!

    It's marketed as an indoor cycling or spinning shoe but would work great as a commuter shoe.  The BOA system is quick and allows secure, even tightening.  There is ample ventilation, which may be an issue on cold, wet commutes.

    There is also the SH-FN22 that retails for about $80.  Appears to be very similar to the above but lacks the BOA system.

There are so many different models of recessed SPD style shoes out there.  No one is going to be able to tell you what is most comfortable, as that is purely subjective.  Obviously the more expensive the shoe, the lighter it is, but that does not necessarily translate into comfort.  The main issue is that you won't have many to choose from if you go to your average small bike shop.  If you're lucky, they'll have one or two models in house to try, so you either have to go around to many different stores trying on shoes, or order a bunch off the internet and just send back the ones that don't fit, but that can get pricey!
