There is a half inch gap between the bathtub and tile wall. I have filled in with silicone and the water is still leaking. Is there something else I can fill in the gap to stop the leak.

  1. have you filled your bath with water prior to applying the silcone?

  2. Cheapest option would be to grout it in with sanded grout.  I say sanded because unsanded grout wont hold up with a half inch joint.  The two planes meeting each other aren't materials that expand and contract (assuming your wall tiles and set on durock or similar sheetrock), so the grout should hold up.  I would pick a color that matches your wall tiles.

  3. this is too large of a gap to try and caulk with silicone or anything else.  You must find a trim piece to cover the void and then seal that piece both top and bottom.  I am thinking like a bull nose tile turn upside down or something like that. good luck.
