  1. You want five feet around the table on all sides.  For your room the biggest you can go without needing short cues is an 8' table.

Side to side, you have plenty of room. Placing the table closer to one side gives you room for some chairs or a shelf for drinks and snacks on the other side.  Just remember, at least five feet of room to stay in stroke with a full sized cue.

In most cases, yours being one of them, placing the table straight will work better in the room.  if you turned the table on an angle, you will bring the walls into play at all four corners.

Try it for yourself with some index cards cut to shape.

  2. An 8 footer would be perfect but a 9 could fit too.  Definitley straight, not on a slant.

  3. 8ft by 4.6ft, for the best look go for the slant.

  4. You definitely want your pool table to be as level as possible. The rule of thumb is that you need as least 48" of each side of the table. I say that should be at least 60" because an average cue itself is just a few inches shorter than that. So, if the cue ball is up against the rail you need some room to stroke. An 8' table would work fine and a 9' table would be even better if you're serious about playing. Remember, it will be a room for a pool table and not a lot of other furniture to clutter it up and intrude on your table playing space.

  5. You have room for a 9' table all the way down to a 6' table.

I would go for the 9' if you really want to get your game tough.

If you play league and national amateur tournaments, you may want a 7' Diamond table with simonis 860 cloth. This is what most national tournaments are played on.

If you just want to play pool and have fun with friends, get the 7 foot table. Not as intimidating for part time or once in a while players.

The smaller table is easier to reach across and shorter distance for pocketing balls easier.

There is a link below with mucho pool table information. The bottom of the page will link you to 2 other pages about billiard tables. Hope this helps.

  6. I dont know but If you do end up getting one, call Swedish Billiards. They have the best price, and quality, plus lots of options!

  7. I have included a link to a room chart. You have plenty of room for a 9' table, and no, I would not slant it.

  8. You can put a 9' in on a 45 degree angle to the room and it would be just fine, plenty of room to move around and shoot.  If however you don't want to do it that way, you can get what they call an 8Pro, it's a little larger than a 8' table, but not as big as a 9'.  It's a great size for your room and you'd be able to fit it pretty comfortably straight in the room, and still leave yourself a nice wall to put in some tables and chairs.  Look for a good table with at least a 1" slate, there are plenty of companies out there making them, some of course are better than others.  It all depends on what you're looking for.  Don't let anyone force you into any one brand.  Most of the major manufacurers make a number of different lines and quality from line to line varies, there are good Brunswicks and cheap ones, same for Olhausen and most of the others, so don't get locked into a name look for features cabinet construction, legs, what kind of wood, etc.  For cloth I'd recommend Simonis, it is hands down the best out there.
