Question:

What is the best sleeping alternative other than prescription medications?

I have also tried Tylenol PM, Melatonin, etc... and didn't have good results.

I have a lot of trouble stopping my mind from thinking about things and can't focus on my body needing to sleep. I just need something that will help knock me out or that can help me learn to sleep naturally.

I wish I could use Ambien or something like that but can't afford to get a prescription.

Any other ideas?

  1. I sometimes use Benadryl and SleepMD http://www.sleepmdhealth.com/ .

Out of the two, I prefer SleepMD.  It has a combination of sedating / anti-anxiety herbs and a sustained-release formulation of melatonin.  I feel ya on the cost of prescription sleeping meds!

  2. A really hot bath and a cup of herbal tea, like chamomile.

  3. You could try herbal Nytol, that works a treat for me but I find that when I wake up I could still sleep for at least another ten hours, made me feel really groggy. I then switched to using a lavender oil in an oil burner & it's the best thing I could have done I would def recomend trying it. If you can't afford the prescription then def try the lavender oil, you'll have a very calming nights sleep. Start off with a little and if it doesn't work add a bit more to make it stronger.

Hope it works out for you.

    All the best.

  4. Australian Bush Flower Essences combination Calm & Clear Essence would help your mind be at peace and so should help you sleep.  I would use 7 drops either directly or 7 drops in a bottle of water shake it a bit and sip till you get to sleep (start 15 minutes to 30 minutes before)

the other Australian Bush Flower Essences for sleep help is Emergency Essence but a busy mind indicates that the Calm & Clear Essence for you would be better, but the Emergency Essence is good for so many things you might get both to have the Emergency Essence on hand in case the Calm & Clear Essence is not quite right for you.

they are not herbs or drugs so neither will be harmful in any case.

    I recommend the book

"Australian Bush Flower Healing" by Ian White

    ISBN-10: 073380

Google "Australian Bush Flower Essences" and your city/state/province to find the nearest supplier

  5. Ok, I suffered from sleeping problems for a while, and I just couldn't get to sleep, same deal, head was racing...

My mum is a health nut and tries to use natural medicines all the time. She suggested I try Brauer. I didn't think it would work because it was natural, but it did, and now I sleep like a baby.

I probably used it for about 4-5 months (there is a spray you use under your tongue I think it is 30 minutes before bed & then just before you go to sleep and it just relaxes you.) I honestly can tell you that I couldn't sleep AT ALL & this really helped me. There is also tablets you can get that you dissolve under your tongue.

And you say you want to start sleeping naturally...well this stuff helps your body become accustomed to doing just that!

I recommend it if you want to sleep!
