hey here's what u do. get three different types of ammo and shot three rounds of each. whichever gives u the best group out of three shots thats what u should use.  also i will recomend the horndy sst saboted slugs which are a 300 grain bullet whith a ballistic tip.  i ended up whith these in my gun.  its all in finding the ammo that the gun likes. good luck.

Don't forget this, though: Slugs hurt on both ends when you shoot them.

I've always had good luck with the Remington and Winchester sabot slugs in a rifled barrel. I use the 2-3/4" because it does just fine for me. Why abuse your shoulder with a heavier slug? Unless you are after dangerous game, then use every advantage you can.

I like Brennike sabot's. I also have had good groups with Winchester. No need for 3 inch mags unless hunting brown bear.

I hate to tell you this, but only your shot gun can tell you the best.  You really need to test fire as many brands and loads as possible, both availability and cost being a factor.  The one you shot the closest group with is your best.  

That being said, every manufacture has a premium slug in it's line.  Do you need it?  Are you sold on advertising?  The basic sabots work and cost less.

Some gun writers will tell you to use 3" shells in a 3" chamber less jump to rifling.  The problem I see is, a 3" shells are magnum shells.  Magnum just means more.  As far as slugs go more is more recoil (kick).

for a rifled barrel,use the sabot slugs...they have more punch and flatter trajectory

According to the 2008 Winchester Product Guide the SXP123, XP tin core 300 grain  or the SXP12 tin core 300 grain sabot.* These are the Supreme Elite XP3's...

depends what your shooting at...deer, bear, targets, what? tell the guy at the gun store. they always have reccomendations on which brands and loads are the best for each type of game. good luck.

I own one.  Sabot slugs work best because they don't lead up the rifling.
