  4. If you're just starting out and have a fixed budget, make sure to spent as much money and time as you can to find the perfect pair of boots then move on to the bindings and to the board.

I know it's not always easy to do, but I really recommend you trying out as many boots as possible with a pair of snowboard socks on.  I've been riding for 4 years and have been to many places (vail, heavenly, whistler) and have grown to really appreciate a good pair of warm feet.  :-)

    Here are some guidelines:

    BOOTS

Try them on like you would be ready to ride.  Bring your snowboard socks and tighten all the laces and walk around at least 15 minutes.  Most high-end boots have a form-fitting liner which forms to the contour of your feet once it warms up.  You toes should barely touch the front of the boot when you wiggle them and you should only feel a slight heel lift when you are on tip-toe.

Personally, I think Salomon makes the most comfortable and convenient boots in the market.  Stay away from Ride or K2.  They don't seem to have a good heel support.

Try on a pair of Salomons and try out their one-pull string lace.  It will save you a lot of time and headache when you're out in the snow.  :-)

    BINDINGS

It's always a good idea to buy the boots and the bindings from the same manufacturer.  Not required, but it guarantees the perfect fit.  Again, Salomon makes the quickest and easiest bindings.  Burton and Ride make very nice bindings too.  Stay away from K2 though.  I personally had some bad experience where the ratchet just snapped while I was tightening it.

    BOARD

Granted that you still have some money left after the boots and bindings, you should start looking at some K2 snowboards.  Since you're just starting out, you should start off with a somewhat decent board where you can comfortably practice riding and doing some tricks.  K2 seems to have a lot more affordable boards than any other companies.

And you should definitely look at Ebay.  You can find a lot used bindings and boards that are still in good condition.

    Good luck.

  5. Santa Cruz women's boards consistently win Good Wood awards.

  6. BURTON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! check out the pro girls riding for burton on there sight   www.burton.com

  7. I would suggest Ride, K2, or Burton for Freeride - I have always been very happy with my Ride boards and my kids have also.

    Good Luck

  8. Rome was started by 2 ex-Burton board designers both companies make great boards. Go with the most affordable one.
