What is the best soil combination for the growth of hot peppers?

any type of hot peppers..i was wondering if there was a mixture of soils they prefer such as sandy , or more potting soil, clay? if it makes a difference im in ga and currently have a few plants that are doing ok but think they could be yeilding more......

  1. a soil that does not retain moisture is good. a 35% soil, 20% sand, 20% cow manure, 15% clay, and 10% peat moss is what i use.


  2. Here in south Texas, the commercial growers have the pepper planted on the river plain with lots of sand.  It gets very hot down here so they love warm soil and hot temperatures.  I'm sure some compost mixed in a sandy loam will be productive.


  3. i live in ky and grow lots of hot peppers  in my compost pile i mix equal amounts of yard leaves bone meal and  peat moss let rot and mix good plant your peppers in that and once a week water with miracle grow for tomatoes  then water every other day  you will get great results
