I'm liking Raising Sand by Robert Plant (w/ Alison Krausse). It's got some great music in this odd not quite rock style. One problem is that it's what the kids call "squashed" -- it's like an automatic volume control set to to loud -- it brings what would be quiet parts up so that the whole thing seems louder than everything else in your playlist.

Anything except, perhaps, the new Interpol record, perhaps which is painfully disfigured by squashing. This is done by the music-hating so-called "mastering engineers" who are paid by the record labels to destroy the music as much as possible.

Then, in five years, they will sell us "newly RE-mastered" versions that are UN-squashed. This is the plan.
