  1. king cobra of course.  i would love to have any though

  2. King cobras are not a good choice, not just because of the size, but mainly because they are not good feeders in captivity. They usually only eat other snakes. They will rarely eat anything else other than maybe lizards. Most people who've owned them feed them rat snakes and road killed snakes.

I used to own an albino monocle cobra. I bought it as a baby and had it for a few years. It grew to 4 1/2 feet long before I got rid of it to make room for my growing breeding projects. It was a cool snake, but very fast. All cobras are very fast and have better eyesight than most snakes. Also, they tend to bolt out of the cage as soon as you open it, at least from my experiences and of those I've talked to. Mine would come completely out of the enclosure at feeding time. I would give it a frozen/thawed rat with some long tongs and it would go back in the cage to eat it. Then there was the one time opened the cage and didn't have any food. That sucker came right at me and chased me out of the room! With that in mind, they are definitely a snake most people shouldn't own. Only the most experienced of herpers should possess a venomous snake of any species.

Really, the care for most of them is pretty much the same and there are a few species which don't get real big, maybe around 5 feet. Most of them, like monocles and Indians, average around 7 feet long. Kings have been known to get to 18 feet. I'm not suggesting you get one, since I don't know you or your level of knowledge, but here's the link to the biggest and most reputable cobra breeder in the U.S., Mitch Brynes of Diamond Reptile. His leucistic monocle cobras are very cool!
