Question:

What is the best starting workout for a 25 year old male?

I am about 20 pounds over weight (weigh about 230 need to get to 210 to 205). I have a little gut and basically have a goal to get back into best shape of my life. I do not want to over do it like I have done before.

My end goal is to be have tone and great definition not look like a body builder. I want to look better for my girlfriend. She has been working out for a while is looking absolutely stunning. I guess you can say I want to match that.

  1. For a starters, don't go on yahoo and expect a half-decent answer. Speak with a proper dietitian, health care professional and personal trainer.

    You really just need to cut the calories down (not too much, just by about 300 calories a day).

  3. you want to be doing cardiovascular work at the gym

    thats either jogging, or if doing weights, do lots of repetitions on a lower weight (like 25 reps)

    whilst you are at the gym, you want to be eating more protein and eating less carbohydrates, the reason being that this will strip the fat off you and you will only put on lean muscle.

    any carbs that aren't used by the body as energy are stored as fat.

    the most important and hardest thing that i have found in going to the gym, is the routine, some nights when you just can't be ar*ed, u just think of that ideal body and your gorgeous girlfriend and get ur ar*e there!
