I have a child that doesnt walk or talk. He will with the right help. We have moved three times. We are looking for a nice area to live. We need the area to have wonderful pediatric therapy centers, good hospitals, good special ed program, and behavioral therapy.

  1. not NJ-there is rampant discrimination against people with disabilities-and teh EEOC and state division on civil rights refuse to do anything about it-

someone I knew thought they could get good help in PA

  2. My son is not physical disable but he is mentally . he goes to a school in calloway county Kentucky. I love the staff and people they really care. They make him work hard and know how to handle children with disabilities. They do have quit a few with physical disabilities also that they do a wonderful job with.  However, The job market her is kinda slim unless your health professional. Also the cost of living is low. I think that probably evens out in the long run.

  3. Not trying to be mean, but why do you think he would be be able to walk and talk? What kind of disability does he have? How old is your son?  It all matters in formulating a good answer for you.

  4. Check out all states on disabilities ,your work is just starting  I have a daughter that has disabilities and you have to fight to get the help you need for education don't settle for less . I went through this program and would recommend everyone that has a relative with disabilities .  http://www.partnersinpolicymaking.com/                                      It teaches how to go through the system and talk to teachers about what you need for your child and it  teaches more than I could explain. As for the states best places I would say Minnesota and Pennsylvania because they really believe in inclusion. you may e-mail if you want to

  5. calif. but it is very expensive to live there now. great services for the disabled, followed my ny nj and minn.

go to www.disabilityinfo.gov  and research states see disabled services.

utah is not to bad either i hear good things about tx and az as well.

  6. Each state is completely different. I know in Ohio each county is in charge of their own programs. Our county has wonderful facilities and a great and caring county Board for the disabled (differently abled), but two counties over has a huge waiting list for services.

Not to mention our governor (i didn't vote for him) has cut $17 million from the state budget for the disabled.

I would probably google each state to see what programs they offer.
