  1. I recommend an online brokerage firm that has good beginner qualitys {like tutorials or an easy to understand set up}, i use zecco, better then schwab, etrade, etc. they are the only ones with free stock trades, no minumums..all the others will charge you fees for trading, but compare and see for yourself. Good luck and happy investing!

  2. There are plenty of discount brokerage firms like Scott Trade, TD Ameritrade, and King Trade that will give you what you're looking for. I recommend you get educated on investing first. StockMarketFunding is a great resource for investors and traders.

  3. Don't go for the cheap brokers. They don't have the service to assist the new trader.

    Best bets;

    Charles Schwab

    Fidelity Brokerage

    Also;

    Take some time and read several books. There's a lot of "typical" mistakes you can make which will cost you money....... Better to know them then do them!

  4. As a first timer, I would recommend that you don't jump in with too much money.  It's better to start small so you don't risk losing too much money.  Many brokerage firms require minimum deposits, but there are some good ones that do not have this requirement.

    I currently use Firstrade ( http://www.firstrade.com/ ).  Not only do they not have any minimums, but they also are cheaper than big name discount brokers such as ETrade, Scottrade, Ameritrade, and Schwab.  I've used them for quite awhile now and have not encountered any problems.  Their website is very easy to use and beginner friendly as well.  I would definitely recommend that you check them out.

    I would not recommend using Zecco because I've heard that their website is not very beginner friendly.  In addition, you will not be able to take advantage of free trades unless you deposit $2,500 or more.
