  1. Draw his punches by using fakes, also crowd him, don't give him the time and space to counter you.

  2. Groin Uppercut

  3. don't throw any punches that he can counter

  4. Stick and move, I am a counter fighter.  However if I fight/spar against someone who is faster on there feet than me, I will tend to struggle.  If that person comes in at speed (faster than I see him) and retreats before I have a chance to hit him, then that would be to their advantage.

  5. Since a counterpuncher relies on timing to land his shots, do what the greatest instigators have always done. . . . STAGGER your shots.  Don't always throw a straight right after your jab.  Don't always send a left hook after your straight right.  Keep him guessing.  Make him think he knows what is coming, and send him a surprise.  If he's waiting for you to attack, he has the advantage. . . . but you can equalize things by making him second-guess himself.

And above all. . . . if nothing else works. . . .stick that jab down his throat all night!  Jabs are the BASIS of effective boxing. . . .whether you're a "boxer" or a "puncher".  I don't care if your "money" punch is an uppercut, a cross, a straight shot, a killer hook to the body. . . whatever. . . . . .. when it comes after a well-placed JAB, you've increased it's chances of landing by a factor of ten.  Jabs aren't generally designed to hurt an opponent.  Their job is simply to make the opponent "deal with it" long enough to throw your real shot.

**Send the jab out there, snap it back, and don't let him time your follow-up attack by staggering your shots, and you should be just fine.

  6. be accurate with your punches
