  1. Most $1/2 NLHE games are loose. Factor in that you'll have less reads on people, as they are coming and going, you should play tight and wait for good opportunites to bust people as big favourites.

  2. Chad C....  your advice really made sense.  Especially since I had just a few moments ago posted a question regarding how to play call stations who won't fold until the river and I was trying to play big cards but missing the board almost all night and losing a lot of chips.  I could have KK and bet strong preflop and 3-4 players would call and the flop would come 2c 3c 5d giving the straight draw and flush draw out there...  and they would call every bet (even after I folded) to the river.   Funny thing is an example of a hand that would win would be A7 who hit the A on the river for a pair of aces!  Calling all the way to the river with nothing and then hitting the "Lotto".

  3. When a new player sits down, don't try anything fancy with him until you can get a read on him.  Ignoring your reads completely is going to cost you a lot of money, both in money that you could win when you have the best hand and what you could lose when you don't.  In a full table cash game, position is key.  In early position, including the blinds, only play premium hands.  The later your position, the looser you can play.  Try to steal the blinds in late position in an unraised pot if the table's not real loose.

Chances are there are going to be a lot of loose players seeing a lot of flops.  If they limp in, go ahead and limp with suited connectors, Q-10 and other marginal hands.  If you hit the flop hard, go after it, and if you miss get away from it.  If there are a lot of players chasing draws and playing c**p cards, you have to tighten up a bit and just play ABC poker.  Check raises and some of the other moves you can make against decent players don't work with those kinds of players because they don't understand that a check raise means that you have a strong hand.  You're a lot better off raising when you're strong, and either limping in or folding when you're not.  If you're against a calling station who's chasing a draw, don't bet it really hard because they're going to call anyway.  If they miss, take the pot down.  If they hit it, you can get away cheap.  Be ready to face a lot of bad beats because 3 or 4 people will be chasing every hand.

I play a lot at those types of tables.  There are some good players, but a lot of them either play like it's an on-line play money or micro stakes table or they try to make the moves that they see the pros make on TV.  If you play it right, you can make a lot of money in a hurry, or you can lose a lot in a hurry if you play it wrong.

  4. Fold

  5. Because the blinds do not increase.  If you have time, it is best to wait for big cards and look for opportunity where impatient players play weak cards.  If you hit your hand stron, you can win big pots...because you don't know the mannerisms of players who come and go, one of the few advantages you can have is to wait for the larger cards which puts you into a mathematical edge.  This is not the only strategy but it is definitely a good starting point.

  6. Play your cards and don't worry about the other people.  Since there are always going to be new players at the table you won't get as much opportunity to see ow they play.  That means that you have to play your cards a bit tighter.  Stick to playing strong cards and be patient as it will pay off.
