  1. Don't play.

You can't win playing that game.....

You might win tonight.....but in the long run you will come out loser.

If you are in the casino you can't overcome the rake....the rake takes out one buy-in per hour. (about $150-$200)

But the biggest reason you can't win playing $1-$2 is you can't win enough compared to what you risk.  That's the biggest mistake poker players make.

If you are willing to lose $500 tonight.....instead of buying into a 1-2 game 2 or 3 times......you should buy into a 2-5, 5-5, or 5-10 game once.

On the same $500 you have a shot to win $1000-$3000 in a bigger game.....in a 1-2 game that $500 should only be able to make you $500-$700 unless you completely run over the game.  The risk vs. reward factor is way off.

Winning poker is more about money management than anything......don't waste your time and money playing smaller games unless you are just looking to throw back a couple of beers and have a good time.

  2. ply it safe the whole way... only bet your best hands if you think u have a good hand but most of the player bet.. then fold

  3. Play tight/agressive. This means wait for premium hands and play them when you get them with raises.

However, don't forget to bluff in the right situation once in a while, like on the button to steal the blinds. Don't worry if you get caught, the next time you will have that premium hand!

  4. if your asking the question, i dont think you really should be playing 1/2 no limit.

  5. this depends who are you playing with.  If you are playing with a bunch of old guys at a casino remember each time one of them bets they have a good hand.

  6. wait for a monster. one time though i sat through 40 hands of absolute garbage at .01/.02, so you might need a bit of a bankroll at 1/2.

  7. hi poker is a game of patience,  its easy to play "looser" in a smaller stakes game.  I would rather play a 10 20 no limit rather than a a 1 2 but everyone has their limits.

Wait untill you get good cards, don't go for "gut shots"  and remember to protect your hand. there is nothing worse than getting beat on the river when someone catches a gut card to make a straight when you have 3 of a kind.

  8. I'm with TheDoverPro...play tight and aggressive. Fold junk hands and play only the best hands preflop.

Don't forget to WATCH the other players and figure out who's loose, who to slow play, etc. Play your position wisely, if there are a lot of reraises before it's your turn, in my opinion it'd be best to fold.

When I started playing, one thing I had to overcome was not seeing as many pots as I would've liked.

  9. Don't play.

  10. Play your own style. I play tight/aggressive, that way i make more of a chance to win bigger pots with good hands and win the occasional bluff. I show my cards when i win a bluff too sometimes, keep em thinking, that way when you do get a good hand they may think you are bluffing again.

The fact that you ask may mean you need to try lower buy-in games first and practice. The basis of your style of play should not alter.
