  1. The west is divided into three regions - the Inner West, South West and Greater West or just Western Sydney.

In terms of safety (stereotypes really, but anyway), the Inner West is the safest but the most expensive region to live in from the three. It has a high sense of community and is home to a large Westfield in Burwood. This area is generally upper middle to lower upper class. (Suburbs include: Ashfield, Drummoyne, Burwood, Strathfield, Concord...). There are many Catholic schools here and a few private ones.

The south west is quite different in demographics. The average age groups here are younger than the Inner West. Income is lower. This area is very multicultural. There are quite a few shopping centres here but they are small. (Some suburbs include: Canterbury, Bankstown, Punchbowl, Greenarce, Lakemba, Wiley Park, Belmore, Campsie, Roselands, Padstow, Cabramatta, Liverpool...)

The West is normally seen as a place which people would only live in if they didn't have any other choice. However, this isn't true for places such as Parramatta. It has a large commercial area, convenient travel to the City and a well known place in Sydney. However, the weather here is extreme as it is further inland. Storms on some occassions have destroyed homes and insurance companies are always involved for this area. (Suburbs include: Parramatta, Blacktown, Penrith, St Marys...)
