i live on maui in hawaii and i have been surfinng for two years, but lately am starting to get serious. i have a 6'4 thruster and a 6'0 thruster, i am 6'0 and 150 pounds. i want a board that feels like a longboard skateboard, with good manuverability if possible. money is not an issue for me so any suggestions are good. oh and i usually surf anywhere from 2-5 ft (back) waves.

  1. Get a "fish". It's usually shorter and wider in the middle and sometimes thicker. It's good for carving, airs and hi-performance surfing. If you just want to cruise, try a "funboard" which is like a mini long board thats more maneuverable. I'm 5'10" 175# and ride a 5'10" fish and 8'0 funboard in so cal.

  2. A board that is commonly used in surfing that can relate to skateboarding is called the Thruster, which has three fins in the bottom back of the board, the middle fin is further back than the other two. It is one of the most maneuverable boards on the market.

  3. Given that longboard skateboards are usually pretty cruisy and carve nice drawn out tuns I would suggest maybe a retro shaped single fin short board or egg, like the Channel Island MSF.

  4. Hobey cat--an old time favorite that is quite comfortable after you get used to it

  5. huh
