  1. Hornwinkles on ping pong street. Next to the big cat on the road

  2. Noble Fish on 14 mile in Clawson has phenomenal sushi, however, the atmosphere is lacking (the sushi bar is in the back of a Japanese store).

I would suggest picking up a bunch of his favorites, getting a nice bottle of wine and a few of his favorite movies and making is a great night in.

  3. Mon Jin Lau.  Very nice and upscale restaurant/bar with great sushi.  From everybody that Ive talked to, they all say that this is their fave sushi restaurant. You might need to make reservations depending on the day.  Its in Troy, MI.  248-689-2332

  4. I'm not a real sushi eater.  However, check out the sushi restaurant in the Hyatt Regency Dearborn who I believe at one time had only one of two true sushi certified chefs in Michigan.

Their sushi has to be good for all the automotive business they have from the Japaneses Auto Maker/Supplier Market that stay in the hotel daily.  It's because of this International Asian Business, the Hyatt-Dearborn is one of the most profitable Hyatt's worldwide.  Plus, it's the second largest hotel in Michigan with over 800 rooms and is located next to the Ritz Carleton-Dearborn and across the freeway from the the "Glass House" - Ford Motor Company World Headquarters.

  5. Hands down the best place to go would be Sakana Sushi Lounge.  They have sushi that reminds me of the sushi I eat when I'm in LA - very fresh and delicious with some great twists!  I usually sit at the sushi bar and they often give me samples of different rolls and dishes compliments of the sushi chef!

The atmosphere is nice too - romantic yet fun, and somewhat club like later in the evenings.  Sometimes they have live music as well.  Check out their website for a menu and event schedule.
