Winterrules and porquemus(spelling) brook trout are awesome but my second best would be brown trout. What was said about hatchery trout is exactly how I feel.... they don't have the firm meat until they've lived in the stream or lake for a while.... but wild brookies about 6-10 inches are great...

Where I grew up in Mass. there are some streams that the limit is 6 trout over 12" and 6 under....

Bluegills, catfish, and yellow perch are the best tasting freshwater fish.  Best tasting fish?  There is such a large variety with varying flavors that it's just a matter of preference.

I rarely eat freshwater fish.  Apparently I need to find out what makes walleye one of the favorites.

From the ocean, I like lots of 'em: halibut, swordfish, ahi, mahi mahi, sea bass, snapper, blahblahblah...

For me, it's really about freshness and method of preparation.  Pick a favorite of all, hmmm, halibut...maybe.

Have to agree, toss up between crappie & walleye. Overall I'd choose hogfish. It's hard to find, but if you ever get the chance, give it a try.

Best tasting fish period?  There are lots but I lean towards flounder and catfish.  My favorite--fried, of course!!

What seasonings are used and how it is cooked is what's going to be the best tasting but all things being unseasoned and pan fried.....

My answer to both questions would be brook trout.  6-8 inch long ones taste best but bigger trout are still better than any other fish.

My favorite fish in the world is a wild brown trout over 2 pounds. Wild ones have very tasty, firm, flaky meat the color of salmon. It can be cooked many different ways, from cooking them whole in a cast iron pan with peppers and onions that were sauted in butter, to filleted, breaded, and fried. Once you have eaten wild trout you will not like hatchery trout, and will pity those who have only eaten hatchery trout and don't know what God intended trout to taste like.
