The best I ever had was at the old Steve's Ice Cream in Somerville, Mass., while Steve Herrell was still at the helm. My favorite was his coffee but that's completely personal pref. I understand that Steve after several years sabbatical, made a come back and will definitely pay a visit to one of his several Massachusetts' outlets if and when I am back in the Bay state.

I've more recently schlepped the great stuff at Aglamesis Brothers in Cincinnati (Oakley Square). Lovely old fashioned atmosphere. Tried several flavors including delightful cinnamon and black raspberry choc.chip. While I always come back to coffee. They weren't anything to sneeze at!
