I am an American living in London and there are people coming to visit me. I would like to take them to a locally owned tea room or cafe. Any suggestions? Please, not Starbucks or Harrods.

Thank you!

  1. tea at the Ritz - very expensive, but an amazing and unforgettable experience!

you are served with tea (obviously), and in the middle of the table is a silver cake-stand overflowing with mini sandwiches, scones (with butter and jam to accompany), and little patisserie things (little cakes and cream slices.)  waiters hover unobtrusively and refill the platter whenever you eat anything, and a jazz pianist provides the music.

  2. How about afternoon tea at the Ritz? This is one of the things "to do" if you are in London. Quite expensive, but a treat.

  3. Try the Woleseley on Piccadilly or Yauatcha on Broadwick Street.

  4. Patisserie Valerie - you'll think you've died and gone to cake heaven!

  5. Ritz is best tea/ cafe room in London. you can find ritz's and other best tea/cafe room's address at http://www.lacartes.com/

  6. well, if have a good budget for that , then u can go to the tea room at the ritz...

but if you would like to have such a nice time and good scones and tarts with affordable price, you can go to Patisserie Concerto in Knightsbridge near Harrods... i have been there several times and enjoyed it a lot.

    enjoy ur time

  7. The best - easy .... but expensive - the Ritz!  Need to book in advance by several weeks, but it's good and oh soooo English.  Its tea, lots of lovely little sandwiches and heaps of nices cakes.  All to the of a harpist or pianist.  Good time, lots to eat and great photo opp (in case you're wondering, I don't work for them)

  8. You could try The Ritz if you have the money, it looks expensive!

Café Rouge are quite nice I've found.

  9. A different approach to your problem might b e to take your guests to the Tea Shop at the Bramah Museum of Tea and Coffee, in Southwark Street SE1 near Tate Modern and the Globe Theatre.

There are relatively few traditional tea shops/cafes in central London. You might do better to make a day trip to a nearby smaller City or town such as St.Albans, Rochester (Medway Towns, Windsor to partake of this type of experience.

  10. The Swisshotel. Try it.
