  1. I like to grab the child by the neck and shove their face onto the desk and say, "You're on your own! Figure this out or you'll be sorry"

    Honestly, I don't understand the question because of so many big fancy terms you used. I like what the first answerer said, except I also don't understand any of that either.

I often model my own metacognition especially when I'm reading directions or reading stories outloud.  Many of us just stumbled upon our own thought about our thinking on accident.  Being purposeful about teaching students how to access it through your own modeling will surely help them refine that skill.
