  1. When you throw up the volleyball make sure its right in front of you and your knees are bent when you throw it up and as it comes down do a nice full hard swing but not too hard because its can go out. thats what i was taught

  2. Here are some highlights.

I am going to address this as if you are right handed.  If you are left handed, just replace left and right every time.

Stand with your left foot forward and about a 45 degree angle.

Plant your right foot.  If you drag your right foot, you will lose power.

Try to keep your left foot planted as well.  If you want to take a small step with your left foot, that is OK.

Toss the ball about 1 to 1 1/2 feet higher than you can reach.

Make sure it is in front of your hitting shoulder.

Hit the ball with a flat hand with your palm.  Sharp contact and allow your hand to follow through.  Do not force your follow through to stop.  Some people say that you should stop your follow through.  Do not force it to stop.  Let it stop.

  3. hold ball straight out in front of you with left hand. pull your right hand back, then toss ball not to low not to high in front, take a step with your right foot, then contact the ball in front of your head about 1 foot.

Make sure you step where you want it to go and follow through.

  4. Here's How to Serve a Volleyball correctly:

    1. Hold the ball with your left hand (if you are right handed) and make sure its parallel to the ground and in front of your right shoulder. Your feet should be a few inches apart and your left foot should be in front of your right.

    2. Extend your right arm back. Your elbow should be as far back as possible and the back of your hand should face your ear. Your hips should face the direction you want the ball to go.

    3. Toss the ball up 2-3 feet and swing your right hand up in an arc. Take a step forward with your right foot. Be sure to snap your wrist for more power and your should hear a dull thud if you did it right.

    4. Repeat the whole process about 20 times until its perfect.

    Other Advice:

    A. If you can't get the ball over it may be your toss. Follow direction #1 and toss the ball up. Let it land. If it lands on the left of your right foot in front of you, the toss was good. But if it doesn't practice until you do it right 5 times in a row.

    B. If your arm is sore try some ice.

    C. Always stretch before you play
