I was thinking of getting Doyle Brunsons book because I heard it's really good. I've never read a poker book so I wasn't too sure. My favorite player is Daniel Nagreanu...does he have a book?

  1. Doyle's book a great book on PLAYING the game, but it's not the heavy duty math book that you seem to be looking for.  CERTAIN players are called "math" guys and they play the game almost entirely by the numbers.  We're talking pot odds, hand odds, implied odds, etc.  It can get rather complicated!

    Here are two links:

    The Mathmatics of Poker

  2. The Theory of Poker by David Sklansky is a classic if you're interested in the quantitative aspect of decision-making.

  3. I also recommend the theory of poker.  It's a lot more on the logical, mathematical side of poker than any other book I've read.

  4. Here is a book that gives you tables on the odds of every Texas Holdem starting hand winnning when there are 2, 4, 6, 8, or 10 players at the table.

It is called the Texas Holdem Dynamic Point Count Super Strategy and you can find out more here:

You may also find a book by Negreanu here:

Look at the second listed item, he co authored the book with Gus Hansen

    Good luck!
