  1. i watch the afl, for one reason only, when the guys bend over so i can look at there round **** all the time

  2. The awesomeness.

Lol, nah just the skill, it's fast faced and exciting I just love it! It's also very Australian as someone said, which I like and that it's so much fun to watch. The teamwork of it all, the occasional blooper (Daniel Motlop's "goal" hahaha) and some amazing marks too.

My friend loves NRL, has no clue about AFL. Trying to convert her, unsuccessfully so far :(

  3. What I love about footy is the atmosphere that it creates and how it's such a big part of our Australian culture (Victoria in particular...).

I also love the varities of teams and the conversations they generate at the work place, school or simply between family and friends.

Footy is a fantastic and proudly unique game of Australia. Much better than all those imitations of football!

  4. Being able to arrogantly laugh at any sport that claims to be skillful/tough/physically demanding etc. all in the knowledge that no other sport comes close to the demands of the game.  I love arguments with rugby and soccer supporters especially!

The other good thing is being a hawks member!!  The flag is ours - Cats Schmats!

  5. The best thing about following AFL is one can do it without being influenced by others (for instance people referring to people who play/follow other sports, as "poofters").

Most AFL fans are mature & follow it for the sake of a game they enjoy - not to ridicule other sports, or people who don't follow your views.

  6. best thing about AFL is having teams like collingwood to hate, even if your own team is not doing well you can always look at them and have a giggle...woohoo they beat port, port want draft picks because they are an aging team

  7. Probably the tight shorts.

  8. Couldn't resist stopping by and answering this.

I don't like AFL, nor do I hate it, but you people make me think otherwise.

    NRL is better.

NFL? What's that? You must've gotten confused, you stupid Victorian.

  9. It is something you look forward to after a tough week of work or school!!

Thats why you love it because it gives you something to be happy about and its completely even, like if your team is at the bottom one year they may win the premiership in the next 2 or 3 years!!

  10. I'm with the crowd here, the fact that it is Australian is pretty bloody awesome as far as I am concerned.  I live most of my time in London so I need all the Aussie I can get.  Love it mate!

I also love the game itself, it's so free-flowing and skillful.  I'm not really into NRL, or Rugby League at all, simply because it is so stop and start, and so d**n hidden too.  What's with the scrum?  And that tunnel ball thing every time someone takes a tackle?  At least with Union they keep running with the ball when they get hit.

(Go Wallabies!  The one down side about AFL is we don't get to smack too many New Zealanders...)

    ;-)

I also love the culture around it.  Okay so see previous answer about the bogans who support Powerless, but living as I do in England you really notice the difference between our "footy crowd" and theirs.  My local soccer team has a seperate entrance for away fans, with fences splitting them off from home fans.  They have their own street to walk down to their seperate entrance, which is basically a straight line from the local railway station and some of it is behind chook-wire.  Away fans are BARRED from all the town centre pubs, (or at least they are if they are wearing their jerseys).

When I went to AAMI a few weeks ago, as a Cat fan (yes!!!) to watch us play the Crows, I caught the free bus in to AAMI from North Terrace...sat in a mixed stand next to my Cattah dad but with a stranger Crow fan on the other side, and Crows and Cats mixed all around us...cheered and hooted and acted like an ******** all night (as you do, all light-hearted of course)...then caught the mixed bus back to North Terrace and wandered back through Adelaide, just me and my dad in our blue and white, through the dark streets to our hotel.

Do that in London?  Uhh uhh, make me!

In 2006 and 2005 I went to the AFL exhibition matches here in London.  Played at "The Oval", (which has a big f*ck'n sign out the front saying "Welcome To The Oval...Where The Ashes Were Won"), 2006 was Cats v Power, and 2005 was Eagles v Dockers.  Again there was the banter and the sledging between Aussies of all states and teams, (and as a die-hard Cat I just went for the fun of the game when the two WA teams played off...as most of the crowd did), and even with the Poms and their stupid f*ck'n sign.  ;-)

Right now I'm lovin' the footy because Geelong is playing so well.  Not just winning, (and by huge amounts), but they are a joy to watch because of their skill.  As I have said elsewhere I hope they are in the Grand Final (duh!) but I also hope that (most likely) Hawthorn also pull out a blinder and play a great game.

Because it is a great game...The Greatest [Game] Of All.

    ;-)

  11. The best thing about following any team is the excitement and fast pace of most games, and the elation after winning a tight contest! AFL is great because it's a mixture of skill and pace with toughness thrown in :)

  12. Best game in the world, no doubt!!

  13. bcoz the players are hot!

  14. I love AFL as it is a cause for everyone to join as a team and work together and it is a great spectacle to watch while you are at the MCG with 90,000+ other fans at a Grand Final or blockbuster home-and-away season game.

  15. Go Lions but A.F.L Is 4 p***y's

    NRL Is the real deal

  16. **I love that it's special to Australia and it's fun to watch.  I love nothing more than going and watching my boys play on the weekend and then being able to discuss the game with friends afterwards.**

  17. The Passion ;)

    Carn Pies :)

  18. ummm.... watching Jimmy Bartel? best answer plz lol jks.

Its intense, fun to watch but the only downside is that if you don't follow afl, you don't have a clue what is going on, it just looks like a group of people fumbling a ball around. But I know whats going on and I enjoy watching it.

  19. The fact that we love it so much that it doesn't worry us if they put the AFL on instead of the Olympics.

  20. Because your proud to follow your team. I dunno but I love footy too.

  21. Not following the NRL!!

  22. its just soooo much better than NRL...

bloody cross country wrestling sh*t.... BORING!!

    hahaha

    lol

  23. I'm proud to be a follower of the AFL because it's unique and australian!

It's very exciting to watch (well it would be for a geelong supporter!)

and none of us are g*y poofters =D

like those from NRL (not joking)
