I just got a new dog and I adopted her and I was wondering what the best thing for fleas is. She doesn't have many but I want to stop it before they get bad.

  1. For a puppy I highly reccommend Revolution. It is a flea prevention, heartworm prevention, and also protects your dog from many parasites such as tapeworms! If you start him on this monthly treatment now, he will be happy and healthy every month without having to worry. Another great thing is that you will save money by combining all the treatments in one! Hope this helps! =)

  2. DO NOT USE ADVANTAGE!!! Look uo "adverse reactions to advantage" on google.  This happened to my dog, I thought he was going to die.  Thousands of dollars later he is ok, thank goodness. Some dogs don't react but it's not worth the risk.  If there are only a few, just shampoo him and comb him with a fine toothed comb and try to pick them off.  Only use flea shampoo or a flea collar if your dog is more than 3 months old.  Good luck

  3. The best treatment for a new pet is to get a flea bath right away.  You can give your pet a flea bath yourself or go to your local groom shop.  If you did not do this right away, you will want to treat your house and yard.  This is very important since fleas can lay eggs by the thousands.  Raid flea spray is the best to treat your house.  You can get a flea bomb but you will still need to spray under you furniture as a bug bomb sprays up and out and does not get underneath areas that fleas may harbor.  Also treat your car or any area you pet has been, including his bedding.  Treat your yard in the spring and summer months when fleas are  bad.  Seven is a very good product that is pet friendly. I am being on the cautious side, as I have said, fleas multiply quickly and it is best to take all precautions as necessary.  I use a product from my local vet.  It is Sentinel with flea protection.  It not only protects your pet from heart disease but also helps to keep the fleas from invading your pet.  If the fleas get really bad, repeat these options until you are sure they are gone.  I hope this helps you out.

  4. a bloody atomic bomb!!!! brush with a fine tooth comb every day and use revolution. i found it works better than frontline.

  5. Frontline Plus or Advantage.  Either one is good and works for 30 days. Revolution needs a prescription.

  6. Frontline

  7. a flea collar may be all it takes for right now, since she doesn't have much fleas. Do a one week test, and see if this helps. If it gets worse, then go to the vet/pet store and get Frontline flea stuff (It works for my cats) and do another one week test. Hope this helps!

  8. First of all a nice bath.  After 24 hours put a flea treatment on her.  Frontline plus or advantage are both fantastic flea treatments.  To help keep the fleas at bay don't forget to treat your house (inside and out).  Also what helps is putting a bit of garlic in your dogs meal every night. It fantastic for your dog nutritional needs and it goes through your dogs blood system and the fleas don't like it.  You'll notice a lot of dog foods have garlic in them.

  9. I have had dogs for the last twenty years and I found that Frontline Plus is the only  flea product that does what it says it does, the Frontline Plus is better than just frontline because it kills fleas, eggs and ticks, so I go for the best, if you are going to get any flea killer you must weigh the dog so you get the right one for your dog, and forget the flea collars they dont work and they make the dog smell funny. good luck.
