  1. at the start sell anything you can get your hands on and make a profit on then as your business starts to grow you can specialise

  2. ... sometimes you have to wonder ..

OK, GO TO SOME CAR BOOT SALES and HAVE A LOOK YOURSELF !!!!

This is known as 'doing your own research' ..

NB Be aware that some Car Boots 'specialise' in specific types of goods  - so DON'T just go to one (on one day) and think you have finished ..

  3. I would avoid electricals unless you have some way you can demonstrate they work to people who might want to buy them...I know I am always wary of electricals at car boots, and a lot of my friends are the same, as you sort of think if it doesn't work, how would you ever find the person again to complain lol...

Things like jewellery, and small gift items like trinket boxes, candle holders, decorative items e.g. vases etc seem to sell quite well at carboots, as do cheaper things aimed at kids; most people give their kids a few pounds to spend when they go to a carboot so maybe a selection of 50p or £1 items aimed at the kids could be something to think about?

Food could be an option but the only problem there is that usually you will find there are "regular" traders there who sell that, and you may find it hard to compete with them on price etc.  The other downside to food is that obviously it has a best before date, so you really need to shift it within a certain time period, whereas "stuff" lasts more or less forever if stored properly!

I also think the way you set up your stall is important, if it looks like a total jumbled mess some people can't be bothered to go through it to look for stuff, especially at bigger car boots where there are so many stalls to see, so try to make your stall tidy, colourful and eyecatching to make people stop and look at your wares!

Good luck and I hope you make lots of money hehe :)

  4. Forget the food, too many restrictions.

Keep it very simple to start with, small

easy to transport items, not crockery

glass or porcelaine. (too many breakages )
