  1. 3 plecks thats too many as they do get to over 2 foot

nothing just do a 10-15% water cahnge once a week

  2. a filter

  3. yeah three plecos are too many, you'd never be able to supply enough algae to sustain them all. and they will die of starvation. Take 2 back.

The BEST thing to do? Water changes. water changes water changes.

If you add anything to the water your just going to mess it up worse.

dont overfeed your fish. only what they will consume in 2-3 minutes.

    and do your water changes!

you'll get rid of all the bad stuff with time and patience.

takes alot of work to get them started, but after that your good!

  4. Water and it's free!!!! A gravel vac to clean the gravel.

  5. water, when the cycle goes wacky, the safest thing to do is a good water change and a good gravel vacuuming....be sure to add dechlor to the water, but you should never add chemical altering agents, they are bad for the fish and give false readings on the tests.  and I have to agree unless your tank is rather large 3 plecos are to many.

  6. As said above, 20 gallons is far too little space for 3 Plecos and the amount of waste they produce.  Maybe 2 if they were Bristlenose or other small species, but Common Plecos, at around 18" need MUCH more space.

As far as removing fish waste and nitrates (or nitrites... you kinda jumbled them), the best product is right here: http://cichlidresearch.com/gifs/simpleaq...  This baby will suck out c**p, ammonia, nitrite, and ntirate like nobody's business and best of all, you don't have to keep buying a new one when chemicals would run out!

  7. The best thing is to clean the tank properly and on a regular basis

  8. UHHHHHHH?? Water change....solution is through dilution 90% of the time.

  9. You cannot really reduce fish waste, but you can however buy products to reduce nitrates. You can only get rid of fish waste with regular water changes and vacuuming the gravel. You can try products like Prime water conditioners, which detoxify nitrites and nitrates, and there is a product by fluval to put in your filter that will remove nitrates.

  10. like 4-6 water snails or a second filter

  11. Partial water changes.  Vacuum the gravel and do at least 25% water changes weekly.  The only answer for removing  waste and nitrates is cleaning.  And as everyone else has mentioned 3 pleco's is at least 2 too many for that tank.

  12. Buy a gravel vacuum and complete weekly water changes.

If you have nitrites it is because your tank isn't cycled, you will have to change the water to keep it low.

Test for nitrates weekly and change the water to keep it lower than 40ppm. Buy a liquid test kit if you don't have one yet for at least ammonia, nitrite and nitrates.

Also, your plecos are going to outgrow that 20g tank depending on what kind they are, you might want to take them back or get a larger tank.
