I meant, what is the best driving method to use to recover from what I described in the original question, if a car hits you at high speed, hard enough to make your car spin, what is the best way to regain control of your car? I know what to do once the car stops. I had this happen last week, and I'd like to know if I could have handled the car differently, - if there is a certain way to handle the car in this situation.

  1. call 911 and get out of the road

  2. Check yourself for injuries,  then your passengers.    Check on folks in other car.    Call 911 to get all help needed and police on the way.   Advise of # people involved and of any injuries noted.   Administer first aide as needed until relieved by emergency personnel.      Provide statement to police,   exchange license,  vehicle and insurance information with other party.   Get pictures in free time from any of above.

  3. get on the computer to answeres and find out what to do.

  4. Don't pee yourself...lol. Sorry, couldn't resist. My bad.

  5. PRAISE the LORD!

  6. Check everyone is ok, call emergency services if anyone is hurt.

If another car is involved swap details such as address and phone number, and insurance companies. I would also take a photo of any damage on both cars and where both cars were when the accident occurred.

Then contact your insurance company and write a detailed report of when, where and time of the accident including a drawing of directions of vehicles where heading prior to accident and where they came to rest after.

If no other person or car is involved and there is no damage to property around you, then count yourself lucky, and drive a little more carefully.
