  1. rub a535, icy hot, ice pack, cold shower, soak yourself in a magnesium bath, get a massage.  In order to recover faster you should be supplementing with l-glutamine.

  2. Ice it down and hit a hot tub if u can

  3. Part of muscle pain is a build up of lactic acid in your muscles, to flush out that acid you can have massage therapy, take salt baths (sea salt is preferable), or just drink lots of water.

  4. massages help soooooooo much I recently started getting them from a friend.  You will be surprised how much it helps, a lot more than a massage chair or one of those little back massager's that cost 30 dollars and run on four big *** batteries.

  5. Try and Ice the ones that hurt a lot. Also, Icy Hot Patches work really well, overnight. Try going to a drug store or local grocery store.

  6. Cold Hot Cold Hot.  Back and forth for hours.  If your brave enough take an ice water bath, and then a hot shower.  Then stretch really well.  If you cant handle that get cold compresses and a heating pad.  Never stretch your muscles after having cold on them.  Only after heat.

  7. Rotate icing and applying heat for about 15 minutes to the muscles that hurt, take advil because it's an anti-inflammatory, you'll want to do a gentle stretching after heat application and try not to overuse these muscles outside of v-ball.

You might also try a long bath with Epsom salt and good luck at the tournament!

  8. Have a hot bath. You can buy bottles of Radox bubblebath specifically for muscle pain, although I'm not too sure whether it actually helps scientifically. You can also buy cans of Deep Heat spray that basically heats up the area to which it is applied in order to soothe muscles.

To prevent sore muscles make sure you do a warm down- it's just as important as a warm up before you start working out. When you're finished your practice, make sure you do some gentle stretches, particularly on the muscles that you have used, and maybe take a gentle walk around for a few minutes while doing some steady breathing exercises, but make sure it is all calm. This should reduce the lactic acid which causes muscle aches and pains after an intense workout and also reduce the chances of injury.

  9. Kristi:  I assume that your muscles are sore from the exercises and not from being torn. If that is the case,  the lactic acid that has built up will go away in a few days.  One thing that you can do to increase circulation is to take hot baths. The hot bath will sooth your muscles, loosen the tight tendons and ligament and increase the rate at which the lactic acid is metabolized.

Some medications like the salicylates (aspirin etc) (Ben g*y) will also aid in the relief of pain of sorness.

If your muscles are torn from improper warm up, it will be several days before they will heal. Again warm or hot baths will help and time and a good diet will also help.  Always warm up before exercise and then take a few minutes to cool down afterwards.  Your coach should have had you do proper warmups before conditioning.  Conditioning always involves some sore muscles but once you are conditioned the soreness will go away.

  10. Hot/warm showers to relax the muscles.  You might also try one of the sports creams on the pharmacy shelves.  When you get up in the morning do some stretches before you even get out of bed.  Then get up and do some more stretches in the standing position.

Don't sit or lay too long without changing position or your muscles will tighten up again.

In time, you will be able to play without pain.  You just need to condition yourself.

  11. oh man, back when i tried out for volleyball i felt this pain. there's not much except taking an advil, stretching out when you can, and resting. eventually you will get used to the pain and it will go away.... i'm sorry that you have to go through this! it will get better. as long as you keep the exercising up, it will get less sore.

every day the practices will seem easier and easier after you warm up. no worries!

  12. I would suggest a bath?

And just try to use them as little as possible.  Of course your likely already doing that.

Put aloe vera on them, I know that's not for sore muscles but it helps, Trust me.

  13. If you have someone that will massage them that always helps....but the best thing to do is just hang in there and the soreness will go away the more you work out...my husband bought me a treadmill and the day after i first walked on it i couldn't even stand up but i just kept walking on it and finally the soreness went away... Good Luck

  14. I would get some pain killers rent a few movies and chill out at the house for a couple days..That's the only way to heal those muscles you pulled. I had a issue just like this a few weeks ago and it sucked so much. Just had to take it easy well good luck.
