What is the best thing to do when one is overwhelmed by a certain feeling or emotion ...?

that one can't act upon, or by the desire to do something which one can't do for a variety of reasons?

  1. go out for a walk,,long walk for 2 hours,,,fast walk

  2. Well, usually this overwhelming feelings are very frustrating and annoying cos you can't act upon them...... so there is no release to the pent up emotions that you are experiencing.

    In this situation the best approach is to :

    1. Try and calm down and divert yr thoughts to any other issue for the time being.... go for a walk, have a cold shower, watch a comedy, play with little Farah... just try to occupy yrself for a while.

    2. Then sit back and think clearly.... what are the reasons that are stopping u from acting upon them, if u can find a way out, fine, problem solved, if not then rationalize things are they worth acting on or were they just a result of letting out some steam.

    3. You can always daydream about it lolzzzzzz (like punching that person who is driving u mad in the nose..... or flying away to that deserted island with yr favorite book or "person" whatever).

    Cheer up.

  3. I try and calm down.  I distract myself with something else till the emotion has been able to sink in.  I know my brain will "digest" it given time, and I will feel better.

    I would also try to think of why I cannot do the thing that I desire?  

    Are the reasons that stop me legitimate reasons or are they based on what is the expected norm?

    Basically I would give it time, and my mind would sort out things in a decent manner.

  5. it all depends on that overwhelming "certain" feeling, you know, my thoughts are going here and there :)..

    I go pray and listen/read Quran and make Duaa often

  7. i usually practise my breathing or distract myself by TV or something equally shallow ..

    'cuz my emotions are too deep ..
