After all, its the thought that counts!

You thank the person for the gift.  Since the item is your property you may then do anything with it you wish.

I thank them for the gift, don't open it then wait a couple months and sell it, or give it to a second hand shop.

I always accept the gift with a thank you then as soon as they leave or when everyone is gone I toss it in the trash cos if u pass it onto someone else it might get embarrassing if u get found out
