Machete...ok no. Erm, some kind of spray? Insecticides.

There is a commercial spray called Bengal that gets rid of them faster than anything I have found. You can find it in hardware stores, Lowes, Walmart, etc

Borax soap

Just put it around all your base board depending on the infestation you may need to bomb first like it or not Those things are dirtier than flies.

But you must know. I know that this method works. We used it at my job.

Someone beat me to it, but I would say Borax or Boric Acid in any form.  If you sprinkle it along the outside edge of your kitchen baseboards and cabinets twice a year you will never have roaches or ants. Put some under your fridge and freezer too.
