  1. If you managed to get Turmeric on fabric -- forget about it. It will not come out   They use Trumeric to dye fabric!

If it is on a counter top or cutting board 100% bleach will do it in time. If it is on enamel ware Bartenders Friend will do a good job.

    Good Luck!

  2. if you got it on your clothes, it's extremely difficult to remove it. No stain remover on the market does a really good job.

If you got it on counters, bleach does a good job. I managed to get turmeric stains off one of my pots by gently heating milk in it, but I'm not sure if it was the milk or the hours of scrubbing before I heated the milk that did the job.

  3. very difficult bleach is the only thing i have found that works that is provided the material that the stain is on is ok with bleach, also on worktops i found it gets it off

  4. those are hard to get out!

    Trust me i know!

If it stained your counters... I find that the cheap Mean Green or Grease Lightning work fabulously!

Clothes.. i still haven't found the perfect remedy... but most stain removers do a decent job.

  5. These are nearly close to impossible to remove, if it's clothes or a tablecloth --- just take it to a good quality dry cleaners, they always get it out without damaging the fabric.

If it's countertops, tile, grout ---- that will need a strong bleach solution & a good scrubbing.  The downside is that now they are even more suceptible & tend to get dirtier even faster.

I advise that you get them sealed, this is easy (like painting on clear topcoat on your nails).  You can buy the stuff at any Home Depot or Lowe's type store.

  6. lemon

  7. I have wooden two spoons which are yellow half way up, but they will be back to normal by next autumn when making my next batch of piccalilli! It does not worry me that I have yellow spoons... Otherwise I would keep one especially for any dishes containing turmeric and other staining spices...

I found soaking my dish cloths and apron (I am a messy cook) in a strong Vanish solution overnight did the trick. First dissolve in hot water and then add cold water before adding the cloth. Otherwise it could act as a mordant! These new peroxide based powders are very good and avoid using bleach, which is obviously not good for coloured clothes!

The yellow on my worktop was removed using a normal Enamel and Ceramic Hob cleaner, but  it took quite a bit of elbow grease and I did not allow the stains to "age". Once you have applied heat, it seems to act as a "fixative" to some surfaces.

Really, the best thing to do, is avoid any spillage and being messy. You can help a little by putting a layer of newspaper out under your working area. Also wear old clothes and keep a "special curry pot" and other wares which you simply admire in their new yellow spring colours!

  8. Bleach, except on saucepans it just comes off in time
